Due to some recent Islamophobia acts in France, muslims on Twitter decided to do a movement to express their discontentment, which is by boycotting French products. Hence the hashtags like #boycottfranceproducts and #boycottfrance are trending, followed by actions in real world in some Arab countries.

If you are Muslims and decide to support this movement, here are some tips to boycott anything French easily:

Check the barcode (French is 300 – 379)

To differentiate with other countries’ products, you should be aware that French products have barcode between 300 – 379 just like what below pictures explained. For example, if a product has “354” in the beginning of its barcode, then it is most likely from France.

Check The Brands

You can check some of biggest French brands below. Perhaps it is even our everyday’s go-to necessity.

Cosmetic brands like L’oreal, L’Occitane, Bioderma, and Garnier are well-known, so are food brands like Danone, Activia, or Belvita. People are probably familiar with riding Peugeot & Renault cars, filling gas in Total, shopping in Carrefour, or spending the nights in Ibis, Novotel, Mercure, or Accor hotels while higher socities perhaps get used to wear something from Dior, Chanel, Hermes, Givenchy, or Louis Vuitton. Now they are on Muslim boycott list, unfortunately.

Dr. Zakir Naik Supported The French Boycott!

The famous international Islamic preacher, Dr. Zakir Naik, also supported the boycott french products movement, even giving some of his recommendations to be boycotted as seen below:

When is this campaign over?

When respecting both sides are in effect in France, I guess. It means that they stop putting a show for a disrespectful cartoon of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and cease for doing anything related to Islamophobia. Untill then, Muslims still will #boycottfrenchproducts and #boycottfrance as the signs of peaceful protest towards this treatment.

And while you are at it, boycotting Israeli products perhaps could be done as well to help Palestine’s cause. Read here for the list of the brands.

Hopefully we can live in a world where everyone respecting each other very soon because there is no freedom in harming others. Word peace is for all, not by neglecting some of them.
